Playing characters as different as the brilliant mathe-matician in the stage version of PROOF, to a judge who secretly likes to wear women’s clothes in the film SCAMELOT, Dick McMahon has taken on divergent roles.
In PATHFINDERS, a motion picture to be released in November 2010 and directed by Michael Conner Humphries (young Forest Gump in the Tom Hanks film), Dick plays an American General who questions the D-Day invasion of World War II. He also appears as a wounded Vietnam vet in the short film A HERO’S GIFT.
Besides PROOF, his stage credits include Talthybius in THE TROJAN WOMEN, and Dr. Singer in DREAMS OF PANDORA, as well as comedy characters Blaine Bland in THE CNN MACBETH, and the lead in DR. DOOLOTS’ DILEMMA. He has numerous television & radio voice-over credits and was an announcer on Nashville’s famous GRAND ‘OLE OPRY.

The challenge for an actor, I think, is giving up control of your body to the CHARACTER you’re playing so he can jump inside and become alive. Sometimes it can feel uncomfortable having him use your personal fears & emotions to express himself … or display behaviors which are not part of your own personality. Dick McMahon
